Are you wondering what happened to Update #3? Well, it was included in yesterday's post. I just didn't label it as #3! Tricky…
Well I finally got around to working on the couch again. I looked up the price for the dust cover stuff on the bottom of the couch, and it's super cheap so I just took it all off since it was ripped anyway. Turns out it used to have an actual purpose, but now it's just for looks mostly. The springs all look like they're in good condition; none are broken or anything.
The front strip is attached to the springs with a string, which you can see in the picture below. I'll have to figure out a way to do that.
I attached a double layer of padding from one of the side pillows to the front of the couch to make up for where the skirt used to be. It looks really bumpy and funny right now, so I'll probably have to take off one of the layers.
So far, the hardest part of attaching the new material is making sure that the stripes are straight. I've used a level to make sure that they're straight, but some parts are more difficult to use a level than others. I plan on working on it some more tonight, so I'll update again tomorrow. I think I can get all the stripe part done this week!

Woo Hoo! Is this a bigger project than you originally thought?

Nah, I planned for it to be huge, so it's smaller than I expected ;) knock on wood of course.
Wow. I don't think I would even attempt this. Your Brave. But it will be soo cool, when you can say, "yeah I re-did this couch, it was easy..."
I'm impressed! I am way to afraid to try something like that
