5 Months Old!

Joshua turned 5 months old last Friday. On time for once, here's an update:

He's getting more and more active. He reaches for anything he can grab. This makes eating with him on the lap quite an experience. We haven't been doing too many "solid" food meals lately, although we have been trying a spoonful of sweet potatoes every day for the past three days. He doesn't seem too excited about them yet, so we may go back to rice and pears. He tried a bite of applesauce the other day and it made for some classic facial expressions.

As far as stats go, I'm going to have to guess. He's about 16 lbs, and probably around 28 inches long. We just packed up the 3/6 month clothes and got out the 6/9 month clothes, although some of the 6/9 month sleepers are already almost too short! I'm excited to dress him in cute summery outfits so I can see his thigh rolls more often to pinch them. :)

Joshua babbles a ton, especially when we're on walks with the baby bjorn and sometimes in the regular stroller, too. The tireder he gets, the louder he gets. Speaking of louder, he's learned how to yell and scream when he's happy, which makes his sad yells and screams that much louder. Time to invest in earplugs?

Joshua still goes to bed at 8:30 or 9 and will sleep solid until 4, 5, or 6am, wake up for a feeding, and then go back to sleep for another 3 to 4 hours. Lately, though, he's been waking up at 11:30 or 12 (or both!) screaming his head off and writhing around. So I have to go in there and pick him up to calm him down and then he'll go right back to sleep (I don't feed him then, though). I'm not sure what that's all about, but I'm not a huge fan except for the cuddling with him once he calms down.

He's still not rolling over yet, but he'll roll onto his side from his back sometimes, but doesn't seem to have any desire to go past that. He's almost sitting up on his own though, and when sitting in a lap, he'll usually strain to sit up (as in, not leaning back against you).

He's a very social baby and loves to be held by anyone. He grins and anyone that gives him any attention and will laugh his head off at people, too. In the carseat, he loves to tell his hands and toy's what's what, especially right before he drifts off to sleep. It's really funny to see him get that stern look and hear him grumble at his hands.

I think that's about it for the update, so here's a great video of his new yelling and screaming fun.
