St. Patrick's Day/Rex Lee Run 5K

On St. Patrick's Day this year, I signed up to do the Rex Lee run around campus. I had been debating whether to sign up or not because I wasn't really ready, and it cost money, and I didn't know anyone else doing it, and I wanted to be lazy, and other reasons. Then my brother, Alex, said that he had signed up, so the day before, I finally decided and signed up.
It was a lot of fun, and it turns out it has been about 5 years since the last time I did it. My time was turtle-slow compared to 9 years ago in high school, especially near the end of the XC season, but that's to be expected. I ran it in 30:46, which is about a 9:55 mile, and placed 19th in my age division. It's nice to be in an older division than last time. Actually, last time I registered wrong (Male instead of Female...whoops!) so I didn't even place in the double digits for my division. Awkward...
Anyway, Dave took Joshua in the stroller and cheered me on and took pictures. He was right after a water station, where Alex decided to play a nice little prank:
Don't worry, I wiped the water and all my nasty sweat off my head and wiped it on his face to get him back. You're right, we could have been pushing ourselves a bit harder if we had energy to do that, but oh well, it was fun.
Then Dave got a picture as I waved to Joshua in the stroller (who was not happy that it was so cold outside):
The following week our stake had a "Spring Extravaganza" with a 5K and an Easter Egg hunt for the kiddos. I ran that one in 28-something with Dave (he got to push Joshua in the stroller so he was slow enough for me to keep up).
Since then I have been running off and on with my friends Ilene and Alexis, who are training for a half-marathon on May 5th, and I signed up for the accompanying 5K, which should be really fun. I don't go with them on their "long runs" because I'm just not ready to go more than 7 miles or so. I've been pushing myself faster on the days I run on my own, so hopefully I'll at least be closer to 25 minutes this next time. The course is all practically downhill. :) Come cheer me on!

Way to go! I actually looked into doing that as well but wasn't going to be up there that weekend. Its just fun to be able to say you are a runner, regardless of ur actual abilities :)

You should have worn shortie shorts. That apparently makes you run faster. :)
